🍒 Meet Your New Favorite Cherry Dessert

Some recipes are just happy.

This one is sweet, creamy, crunchy, a little nostalgic—and has that “wait…what IS in this?” factor that makes people go back for another piece.

I took the classic pretzel Jell-O salad and gave it a Dinner à la Amy twist with Tastefully Simple Cherry Soda Dip Mix and a whole lot of cherry goodness.

And let me tell you…

This one is SO good. 😋

It’s the kind of dessert that belongs on the table when you’re feeding people you love. No fancy techniques. No perfection required. Just a few simple layers, a little refrigerator time, and something delicious to pass around.

Because around my table, we pass plates, not perfection. ❤️

🍒 Make it for a family dinner.

🍒 Take it to the next potluck.

🍒 Put it on the holiday table.

🍒 Or, honestly…make it because you want dessert.

That’s allowed, too. 😉

Cherry Soda Jell-O Pretzel Salad — another simple little way to put something delicious on the table.

🍒 Cherry Soda Jell-O Pretzel Salad

A delicious twist on classic pretzel salad, with creamy Cherry Soda flavor, maraschino cherries, and a sweet-tart cherry Jell-O layer over that salty pretzel crust. 😋

Yield: 12–16 servings

Prep Time: 25 minutes

Bake Time: 8–10 minutes

Chill Time: At least 4 hours

Total Time: About 4½ hours

Ingredients

Pretzel Crust

  • 2½ cups crushed pretzels
  • ¾ cup butter, melted
  • 3 tablespoons sugar

Cherry Soda Cream Cheese Layer

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1 packet Tastefully Simple Cherry Soda Dip Mix
  • 8 oz whipped topping

Cherry Jell-O Layer

  • 2 small boxes (3 oz each) cherry Jell-O
  • 2 cups boiling water
  • 10 oz stemless, pitted maraschino cherries, halved, with their juice

Directions

1. Make the Pretzel Crust

Preheat oven to 350°F.

Combine the crushed pretzels, melted butter, and sugar. Press firmly into the bottom of a 9×13-inch baking dish.

Bake for 8–10 minutes. Remove from the oven and allow the crust to cool completely.

2. Make the Cherry Soda Cream Cheese Layer

Beat the softened cream cheese until smooth.

Add the Tastefully Simple Cherry Soda Dip Mix and mix until thoroughly combined.

Fold in the whipped topping.

Spread evenly over the completely cooled pretzel crust, taking the mixture all the way to the edges.

3. Make the Cherry Jell-O Layer

You’ll want to halve the maraschino cherries before adding them to the Jell-O.

Dissolve both boxes of cherry Jell-O in 2 cups boiling water, stirring until completely dissolved.

Add the 10 oz halved, stemless, pitted maraschino cherries along with their juice and stir to combine.

The cherry juice is part of the liquid for this layer.

Allow the mixture to cool before carefully pouring it over the cream cheese layer.

4. Chill

Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until the Jell-O is completely set.

Cut into squares and serve chilled.

🍒 The Cherry Soda Twist

The Cherry Soda Dip Mix gives the creamy layer its fun cherry-soda flavor, while the cherry Jell-O and juicy maraschino cherries make this a seriously delicious cherry-packed dessert!

As a Pittsburgh native i’m a big fan of the classic strawberry pretzel jello salad, and this was a really fun twist on the classic! The cherry soda dip mix adds a nice cola taste to the already delicious sweet and salty combo. What a creative way to use this dip mix from Tastefully Simple!
